I am a first-year PhD Musicology and Gender and Women’s Studies student at McGill University, Canada. My dissertation project concerns music and dance cultures in Montréal’s Gay Village (1980–95).
My master’s thesis is about the curious reception history of André Mathieu—the “Little Canadian Mozart”—within the Quebecois performance canon. My thesis, entitled “Performing Québécois Nationalism: The Reception and Revival of André Mathieu,” was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
I also work as a freelance music journalist in Montreal.
